Those two quotes from Elliot and Jeff pretty much sum up my opinions on this. Valid code, and web-standards are very good guidelines for web developers to try and follow; however, it by no stretch means that your site is good or bad. Great sites can be invalid, and very horrible sites can be valid...

I actually find it laughable that you think that of him - someone that worked at Carsonified, has been published on every big article site on the net, has a very popular blog AND writes monthly for .net cannot be that bad.

Yeah well I'd still say you're better even if you do not want to admit it! If you're not bothered about validation, but you still try ofc then at least that's a start but to totally disregard it is a lol :P

He is literally one of a million though; I suppose at least he has heard of web standards, mention W3C to the vast majority of web designers and they are like "lulwut is that like flash?" :P

Dude, I think saying he's incapable isn't at all fair. If you don't like his style of coding or designing then fair enough... but not being massively fussed about validation and not being able to achieve it are two very different things. And he's not turning down the work because he can't do it, he's turning it down because he doesn't like doing it... I hope that one day I'm so successful that I can turn down jobs.

I'm certain Elliot is more than capable of making a valid site... he just chooses not to make it a priority. Because Web Standards aren't set in stone and enforced, they are open to interpretation. Your view on the importance of validation differs from his, doesn't mean that either of you are right or wrong, it's just a difference of opinion. Shal we leave it at that?

I don't fancy having a blog where the comments area becomes a shit flinging competition, so let's keep the personal attacks out eh?

@jack it's more Elliot who I hate with a passion, he is incapable of coding a HTML valid website, he is in my opion a very poor designer and coder. What's the excuse for not being valid? JavaScript? Ajax? JQuery? PHP??? There is no excuse not to be he is just a later slacking noobtard.

It's possible to make a HTML strict website that is HTML and CDs valid, and is WAI-AAA, a site that uses javascipt and so on!

What's the problem really?

Carson didn't even know basic legal requirements and none of his staff had the company details in the email footer/sig. That's fineable and just shows how badly prepared they are? Yet they preach about how to do this and that and Carson himself will write business guides, but does not know laws 2years old which he should of been aware of well prior of it! Even people not in our industry know about it. You get a mail them and it could have been from a 12yo kid nothing but theEmail Addy Says them.

Jack, it's not just them. It's everyone who sticks their head in sand at the first mention of standards, to know idiot boy Elliot is getting clients actually ask for standards compliant websites and refusing is just lol!!? He just can't do it, and nor can the vast majority of designers! Yet it's easily learnt!

Adam - what is it with you and Carsonified? What's you anger with them?

I think, like I said on the other post, there is a balance, which is basically what Elliot Jay Stocks says, and I agree 100% with him. Gret article again btw mate.

"the bastard love child of a who’s who in music and a big stack of £100 notes" -- I love that! Great writing style :)

While I try my best with web standards, I have to admit that usually at the end of a project there some loose ends to tie up for validation and often it takes me ages to get around to them... heh

Although saying that you are HTML Strict Valid; CSS Valid and WAI-AA, Which in my opinion makes you a better designer or coder than the above, Jeff Croft will burn in Validity Hell and so will Crapsonified.

You have proven its possible, and doable even when you do not 100% believe in it! I would say your also tentatively WAI-AAA, in a fashion or with a little work.

You're kind of frustrating me because we all know you can code, and my "Your not HTML Valid and believing in HTML valid is because you are unskilled enough to code HTML Valid"

So makes a few alterations :P
